If all the fairy lights hanging up for Christmas have you hankering for another season of Netflix’s summer hit Stranger Things, the media-streaming giant has surprised everyone with the announcement that its newest science-fiction show is set to debut this Friday, with the trailer promising even more strange things in small town America.
Named The OA, the story follows a young blind woman, Prairie Johnson, who disappears only to surface again seven years later, with her vision restored. While she refuses to talk to the police or even her parents about what happened to her, the trailer ends with the promise of a new mystery to unravels.
While The OA, co-created by its star Brit Marling, in unrelated to Stranger Things, fans of the Golden Globe-nominated show should find something to savour over here, with children disappearing and medical experimentation having featured in both shows.
The full series debuts on Netflix this Friday, with the streaming giant hoping this will become as big as hit as its summertime piece of nostalgia-tapping supernaturalism. Check out the trailer in full below:
