"As a writer, the more time you spend with your characters, the more you find out about them"

So said author John Connolly when asked about his writing process on Wednesday night's Tom Dunne Show.

The thriller writer joined Tom as his thirteenth Charlie Parker novel hits the bookshelves. Tom asked Connolly whether he knew, all those years ago, that he would one day have so many titles under his belt.

"I didn't know until I took two years off after the first four," explained the novelist.

Connolly's latest novel A Song of Shadows is out now.
