It took over a year to make it happen, but finally Tom had the opportunity to meet with one of the most influential men in Northern music, Terri Hooley.
Though he doesn’t like the title himself, many think of Terri as Belfast’s ‘godfather of punk’.
At the height of the city's troubles Terri set up the record shop Good Vibrations and was instrumental in kickstarting the careers of The Undertones and Rudi and the Outcasts, among others. The Undertones released their classic hit 'Teenage Kicks' on the Good Vibrations label, and DJ John Peel later described it as his favourite song.
Terri’s story was brought to the big screen in the 2012 biopic Good Vibrations, starring Richard Dormer.

‘This song is my first musical memory. At the age of six, I got my eye shot out with an arrow. It was a lovely summers day. The Shangri-Las - Past, Present and Future
Terri said…
‘I remember being the loneliest kid - in the bedroom crying at night. I never thought that I’d be with a girl again and I was so heartbroken. I just think this is the most perfect three minute pop opera.’
Them - It’s All Over Now Baby Blue
Terri said…
‘Van is the only one that I don’t get on with but he’s a songwriting genius.’
