Online pick of the week
Black Mirror, Season 3 - available globally on Netflix on Oct 21st
Black Mirror is back, moving homes from Channel 4 over to Netflix. Charlie Brooker's award winning sci-fi series consists of six stand alone episodes, all set in a near future dystopia, each tackling a new idea about the consequences of our addiction to technology. We can't recommend this enough!
Picks of the week
Black-ish, Monday, E4, 7.30pm
Andre 'Dre' Johnson has a beautiful wife and family, and a luxurious home, but he's beginning to think that this has all come at the cost of black culture and his racial identity. Think Modern Families, but better.
Him, Wednesday, UTV Ireland, 9pm
Fionn Whitehead stars in this brand new supernatural thriller on UTV, as a 17 year old boy who's struggling to come to terms with his parents' divorce - and it seems that he's inherited supernatural powers from his grandfather, which come into play when he's stressed or anxious.
Film of the week
Locke - Saturday, Channel 4, 11.30pm
Written and directed by Steven Knight and starring Tom Hardy, this movie is two hours of pure theatre. Ivan Locke discovers that a woman he had a one night stand with 7 months previous is going into early labour. Rather than return to his family, he feels the right thing to do is be there for the birth of this new son, contrary to what his father would have done. The movie focusses on the two-hour drive from Birmingham to London that he makes, and the 36 phonecalls he has on that journey.
Tune into The Tom Dunne Show every Monday between 22.00 and 23.00 for a run down of the best TV the week has to offer. You can listen to the full edition of this week's episode below:
