Pick of the week: Hidden Impact, Monday, RTE1, 9.35pm

Since turning professional in 1995, rugby's popularity has soared. The game has become faster, more furious, with bigger hits and some would argue, bigger bangs. But at what cost to the players? High profile incidents - including the sickening footage of George North taking bang after bang in this year's Six Nations - have cast a long shadow on this most beloved sport.

This absorbing one-hour documentary investigates the troubling issue of concussion in the sport. Former international players including Ronan O'Gara, Fergus Slattery and Conor O'Shea speak frankly about how rugby's macho culture fosters an environment where players put the good of the team before their own welfare. Johnny Sexton talks candidly about the bangs he suffered in 2014 that knocked him out of the game for three months. And John Fogarty, the first Irish professional forced to retire because of concussion, speaks about the devastating impact it had on his life.

These Walls Can Talk, Thursday, RTE1, 10.15pm

A stark and provocative portrayal of the Irish Deaf Community, told through their unique experience at St Joseph's School for Deaf Boys in Cabra. Demolished in 2011, this controversial school has divided opinion among the community, and certainly among the men featured in Garry Keane’s powerful film. For over 150 years the Christian Brothers-run school provided an education, developed a community and offered a chance of a future. But for some, that opportunity came at a huge price – with years of physical and sexual abuse committed within its walls. Performance artist, Amanda Coogan is the daughter of two deaf parents and her father Larry attended St Joseph's in the 1950's. In this evocative documentary, she returns to St Joseph's to examine its complex legacy.
