Picks of the week

Olympics, BBC1, Friday, 8.30pm

Join Clare Balding and guests as they look ahead at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad with a spotlight on British athletes Jessica Ennis-Hill, Mo Farah and Bradley Wiggins, as well as some of the global stars taking part.

 

Mo Farah - Race of His Life, Thursday, BBC One, 9pm

British distance runner Mo Farah took home gold in both the 5,000m and 10,000m races back in 2012. this documentary takes a look at his preparation in the run up to Rio, including a meeting with his twin brother in the small African country of Djibouti.

 

Bradley Wiggins, The Road to Rio, Tuesday, Sky1, 9pm

36-year-old British cyclist Bradley Wiggins has won seven Olympic Medals, four of which are gold, and he's aiming to become the UK's most successful Olympian at Rio 2016. This exclusive behind the scenes documentary follows his preparations for this year's Olympics, as he reflects on his battle with alcohol and his success at the Tour De France 2012.  

 

Borderline, Tuesday, C5, 10pm

C5 brings us a brand new mockumentary about the UK Border Force in a small northend airport. Boredom and stupidity ensues. 

 

A Grannys Guide to the Modern World, Wednesday, Channel4, 10.30pm

Barry Humphries (Dame Edna Everage) teams up with a group of OAP's to investigate the modern world from an 'outsiders perspective', through a series of experiments, sketches and reports. In episode one, Trish, Margot and Daphne take a trip to Amsterdam where they smoke a joint for the first time, and Bobby learns about the new parameters of political correctness.

 

Film of the week

The Searchers, Saturday, RTE1, 12.40pm

Arguably John Ford's greatest ever western movie, John Wayne stars as a former Confederate soldier who reunites with his brother after the civil war with a stash of Yankee gold. But his brother and sister-in-Law are killed by Indians and their two daughters kidnapped. He and his brother's adopted son Martin set out on a five year quest to find them.
