Pick of the Week

True Detective, Sky Atlantic, Sunday, 2am

Nobody panic. We have a replacement for Game of Thrones.

The second series of True Detective is back and it sees a bizarre murder bringing together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California.

If it's any way as good as the first series, we're in for a treat here.

One Extra Chromosome, Wednesday, BBC1, 10.35pm

Stephen Nolan hears from people with Down's Syndrome, and their families, to assess the impact the condition has on their daily lives.

The Interviews, Wednesday, Gold, 9pm 

Dawn French narrates this strand finding out more about some of our favourite performers, beginning with Kenneth Williams. In interviews with the most celebrated interrogators like David Frost, Michael Parkinson, Terry Wogan and Russell Harty, the raconteur talks openly about his frustrations, phobias and his darkest moments.
 

Catching History's Criminals, The Forensic Story, Thursday, 9pm BBC4
Surgeon Gabriel Weston explores cases that were cracked by examining the smallest traces of forensic evidence. They include the first murder case solved in the UK based on fingerprint evidence to the patterns of blood in a bedroom which helped overturn an infamous murder conviction. Gabriel also reveals the cutting-edge techniques that are proving vital to catch the killers of today.
 
Glastonbury, BBC 1,2,3,4, Friday, 7pm
 
Jo Whiley, Mark Radcliffe, Lauren Laverne and roving reporter Gemma Cairney kick off BBC Two's extensive coverage of the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset. Featuring acoustic performances in the studio and highlights from around the stages.

Kick-Ass, Saturday, Film 4, 9pm

Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a super-hero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.
