Entertainment journalist Rory Cashin joined Tom Dunne on Monday night to look ahead at the best television for the week ahead.
Poldark, on BBC One on Sunday evenings, is a period drama adaptation of Winston Graham's novels, following the exploits of the title character as he arrives back to England in the 1780s, having fought in the American War of Independence. What is of particular interest to an Irish audience is the participation of Dublin actor Aidan Turner, who plays the central character.
Rory also recommended the new detective series Powers, which lands tomorrow. It is the first television offering from Sony PlayStation, available only to the 100 million owners of the device, thereby initiating a brand new platform for television programme viewing.
Regular listeners of the show will be enthusiastic about BBC Four's music documentary this week - The Irish Rock Story - A Tale of Two Cities. This co-production between RTE and the Beeb is on Friday at 9pm. It focuses its attention on the music scenes in Belfast and Dublin, from the 1970s to the present day, with contributions from the likes of U2, Sinead O'Connor and Sir Bob.
Film of the Week is The Killer Inside Me, Michael Winterbottom's 2010 graphic noir. Set the recorder as its a late one - 1am, Wednesday on ITV 4.
The film courted controversy on release for its unwavering portrayal of violence. However, Rory says it is a very interesting film, considering its 1950s Texan context.
Tune in next Monday from 10pm for more TV previews.
