Sleater-Kinney are back after a hiatus of nearly a decade. Band member Carrie Brownstein joined Tom Dunne on Tuesday evening to discuss the reunion and their upcoming Dublin date.
"It's been overwhelming," said Brownstein, of the reaction they have been receiving since reforming. "Lots of love and enthusiasm from the audience and it's been a real pleasure to play for everyone again".
The all female band released seven albums between 1994 and 2005, with renowned music critic Greil Marcus describing them as one of the best rock bands of the late 1990s/early 2000s.
During the interview Brownstein spoke about the band's approach to making their music: "I don't think there is a really settled version of Sleater-Kinney so the kind of songs we write and our approach to music has a lot of energy to it".
One of the key features of the new record is the vibrant chemistry that still exists between the band members. For Brownstein, this appears to be a very important element.
"It sort of feels like a force that exists outside of the three of us".
Sleater-Kinney's new album, 'No Cities to Love', is out now.
