This Christmas the Tom Dunne Show is bringing our listeners a very special selection of original content with great music, stellar guests and plenty of festive fizz, from cocktails with Oisin to Game of Throne's Aidan Gillen and from Duke Special to a Christmas Comedy Special with Karl Spain and Eleanor Tiernan. Stay tuned throughout the festive season for a packed schedule of yuletide shenanigans and, as always, great music.
Christmas Eve
Karl Spain and Eleanor Tiernan join Tom for a special edition of the Comedy Hall of Fame, as the panel look at the very best Christmas themed comedy from the likes of Chris Rock, Kevin Bridges and Sarah Millican.
As Christmas Eve draws to a close, Tom is joined by Alan Cleaver to take a look at the extraordinary events on the Western Front, exactly one hundred years ago, to the day, when Allied and German soldiers enjoyed a Christmas Truce in No Man's Land.
Christmas Day
Duke Special is in studio on Christmas Day to play Tom some of his unique 78rpm Christmas records. And yes, they will even be played off his own picnic gramophone.
I have the pleasure of joining Tom on Christmas Day to share my rather niche (and perhaps over-excited) interest in TV Christmas Specials. Tom and I trade banter on TV greats from 'A Christmassy Ted' to 'The Office Christmas Special' and even my own personal Mastermind subject, 'Knowing Me Knowing Yule with Alan Partridge' (if I was ever on Mastermind, that is).
Monday December 29th
We all know actor Aidan Gillen for his roles in 'Queer As Folk', 'Love/Hate' and 'Game of Thrones' - but he's also got excellent taste in music. That's why Tom's drafted him in to guest present for two nights on the show. Tonight he's joined by his daughter Berry in studio. Expect great music from The Jam, Twin Shadow, Thin Lizzy, Sun Kil Moon, Depeche Mode, Suicide, Scott Walker and much more.
Tuesday December 30th
Tonight, Aidan is joined by his friend Stephen Ryan (ex Stars of Heaven, The Revenants). They play some of their favourite music, and Stephen premiers tracks from his soon to be released album with The Drays, 'Look Away Down Collins Avenue'.
New Year's Eve
George Byrne and Oisin Davis join Tom on New Year's Eve for a special edition of 'El Filmio Reviewio'. A little bit of bubbly is on offer as Oisin makes a Pomegranate & Prosecco Punch, while George looks back on his five top films of 2014.
Many great figures of film and comedy passed away in 2014. Sue Murphy joins Tom to look at the brilliant work that Robin Williams, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joan Rivers and others left the world behind.
New Year's Day
Sit back and enjoy another chance to listen to one of the funniest interviews that Tom has ever conducted...with the one and only Tommy Tiernan. This episode of 'My Life in Music' is a classic and a perfect way to recover from the night before.
Keep the dial tuned to Newstalk 106-108 for the Tom Dunne Show, from 10pm every night during the Christmas period!
