On this week’s cocktail slot, Oisin Davis, of Great Irish Beverages, concocts a cocktail in honour of James Brown, while George Byrne reviews the biopic of the great man, ‘Get On Up’.

Oisin says, "He was the Godfather of Soul and the Grandmaster of Funk.To this day his music will get even the grumpiest of moanyholes onto the dance floor to let loose and bust some crazy ass moves. James Brown was a proper legend and I can't wait to see the biopic about him.

And as myself Tom and George are all self confessed music nerds, we'd be happy to wax lyrical about how James Brown is the most sampled artist of all time. It's difficult to find a hip hop, disco or house album that doesn't feature some snippets of his amazing music. One of the most heavily used is the amazing song Funky Drummer. So I thought I'd make a cocktail in humour of that tune!

1 bar spoon of blackcurrant jam
15 ml of lemon juice
1 dash of angostura bitters

Chill a coupe glass with some ice. Place all ingredients into a shaker with some ice. Shake hard for twenty seconds. Remove ice from the glass and double strain into the glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
