One of the more interesting anecdotes around The Bronx Cocktail is not actually in relation to it's genesis (as with many cocktails there are more than one version of how it came into being) but actually who was one of it's earlier fans. Apparently, one of the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous, a Mr. Bill Wilson said that the first boozy beverage he ever had was a Bronx Cocktail during WW1. This set him off on an addiction to alcohol which ultimately led him to establishing a worldwide non profit organization that has helped millions. So I guess, if ever a mixed drink should come with some kind of warning, it should be this one. If something is indeed that bloody good, take heed! You never know where it might lead you....
METHOD:
- Chill a martini glass with some ice.
- Place all ingredients in a shaker with some ice.
- Close the lid and shake it hard for ten seconds.
- Remove the ice from the glass and fine strain the cocktail into it.
- Garnish with an orange twist.
