This week our resident mixologist Oisin Davis (of the Damson Diner) is recreating the 'Planters Punch' from the 1961 classic, 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'.
Oisin says, "This particular concoction was popularized in the Planter's Hotel in South Carolina in the latter part of the 19th century. However it's recipe is very much Jamaican in origin as the base ingredients are the kinds of things that Caribbean people put on their cornflakes in the morning.
A lot of the time you see this poured out in big batches but that tends to leave it a little cloying as the sugar doesn't really break down too much with the juice. So it's better to shake it really. That way it's more smooth on the mouth.
Should the weather Gods bless us with anything as even half as nice as what we had last Summer, then this would be a drink that would cool off any party..."
