On tonight's Tom Dunne Show Oisin Davis, of Great Irish Beverages, makes a special cider cocktail called the Orpens Sour Fizz.
Oisin says, 'Over the last couple of years, new cider producers are cropping up and down the island of Ireland. They're being lovingly crafted both in small and large scale with Irish apples that are pressed, fermented and bottled here in Ireland. This is why we thought it would be cool to run Irish Cider & Food Day on September 3rd. Venues in all 32 counties have been asked to pair a craft Irish cider with an Irish food dish of their choice. A proper celebration of Irish food and drink! But when you put cider in the hands of someone like me, cocktails will suddenly materialise. This is one I've been enjoying for a while now’.
Ingredients
50 ml Jameson
15 ml vanilla syrup
15 ml lemon juice
egg white
75 ml Orpens Irish Cider
Method
Place the whiskey, syrup, lemon juice and egg white in a shaker, with ice. Shake hard for twenty seconds and strain into a long glass. Top up with the Orpens and garnish with a lemon twist. Sláinte!
