On tonight's show our resident mixologist Oisin Davis makes a special David Bowie inspired cocktail.
Oisin says, ‘This is a Facebook post from my good friend and fellow Boozehound, Max Warner. In it, he recounts how he served David Bowie a rather nice cocktail. "Pretty much the coolest man I ever met. He had just returned from headlining Glastonbury in 2000 and was staying at the Sanderson, where I was managing the bars. It was just him and I in the Purple Bar and he asked me 'are you any good at making Dirty Martinis?' 'Sure, how do you like them', I asked. In that gravelly voice he replied, 'FILTHY!' - I'll be ordering one of them for a long time in every bar I visit so I can toast a very charming, intriguing 100% rockstar legend!’ One of my favourite quotes of his which I live by :'I don't know where we are going from here, but I promise you it won't be boring' - David Bowie.
How to make: 3 muddled queen olives, no additional brine but then make a wet 3:1 Martini with *include gin or vodka of choice* & dry vermouth, stir with lots of ice and fine strain into a chilled martini glass. Drink is cloudy and still aromatic enough to taste the spirit without the overpowering salinity from the brine.
