Oisin Davis, of Great Irish Beverages, brews up a special Thanksgiving cocktail on tonight's Tom Dunne Show.
Oisin says, 'It's such a beautiful holiday and get together, please enjoy every second of it. Times to give gratitude and hang out with those you care most about are very precious. Unfortunately, it is followed by Black Friday the manifestation of capitalism gone completely mad. Here in Ireland, we've somehow managed to take on Black Friday without any acknowledgement of Thanksgiving. For me, that can be best described as picking up an STD without actually getting laid. But anyhow, tonight's drink is an ode to Thanksgiving as it contains cranberry juice and bourbon, two must have American holiday items. And in keeping with my agreement to look at hot toddies til Chrimbo, this one's heated!'
INGREDIENTS:
50 ml Woodford Reserve
100 ml cranberry juice
50 ml pressed apple juice
1 teaspoon of date syrup
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
METHOD:
Heat the cranberry and apple in a pot with the spices and with a little water.Bring it to the boil and then let it simmer for a few minutes to let the spices cook in.
Pour the bourbon into a mug and top it up with the hot juice and stir in the date syrup. Garnish with a clove studded orange slice.
Happy Thanksgiving!
