On tonight's show Oisin Davis, of Great Irish Beverages, makes a special Electric Picnic inspired cocktail, the Strawberry and Cucumber Collins.
Oisin says, 'When I was very kindly asked to do a cocktail demo at the Theatre of Food at Electric Picnic this year, I had only one theme in mind - making nice cocktails at home with simple kitchen equipment and ingredients. Showing people how they can take standard household fruits, juices and spices and mix them into late night emergency drinks or pre dinner party beverages. And that's why the show is called, "How To Be A Session Hero". Come join me at 3pm in the Theatre of Food over in the Mindfield Area. I'll be aided and abetted by the top chef and fellow craic-monster Mr. Paul Flynn of The Tannery in Dungarvan. We'll be showing you how to whip up drinks like this wee beaut:
INGREDIENTS
1 bottle of Beefeater Gin
1 cucumber
1 punnet of Irish strawberries (with the tips removed)
The zest and juice of 4 lemons
100g of caster sugar
2 litres of sparkling water
METHOD
Place everything but the sparkling water into a blender and give it a good blitz for about 1 minute. Then with a baking sieve, strain out the pulp and get all the liquid into a jug. Pour a measure into a long glass with some ice and top it up with sparkling water.
