This week’s entrant to the Comedy Hall of Fame was the American funnyman Demetri Martin.
Our panelists, Karl Spain and Colm O’Regan, decided that Martin, who won the prestigious Perrier Award in 2003, was a worthy contender for the Hall due to his remarkable ability to construct uniquely fresh, sharp and tightly written jokes. One classic example cited during the item was, “I think the worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades”.
Martin, who is a former writer on the Conan O’Brien Show, can be categorised alongside some of the other comedians who have made it into the Hall of Fame, including Milton Jones and Steven Wright.
