British musician Ghostpoet joined Tom Dunne on Tuesday night to discuss his latest album Shedding Skin, which Tom has been playing extensively on the show over the past two weeks.
He played his first solo gig in 2010, was Mercury Prize nominated in 2011 for his debut album and was a judge on last year's panel.
"Before I even made music I was a massive fan of music so it was great to be recognised by the Mercury," he said.
So, what about the new album?
"It's definitely a step in a new direction," he said. "I wanted to make a record that would hopefully open me up to a bigger audience but at the same time not dilute my creativity".
The musician also intimated that this is the first time he has allowed other artists' records to influence the music that he makes.
"I listened to alot of Nick Cave, I listened to The National, Massive Attack, The Cure, Joy Division, and the reason I listened to those records is they're all examples of people who make creative music but have been able to appeal to a big audience".
