Jimmy Chamberlain of Smashing Pumpkins fame was in Dublin last week for the Web Summit. Tom Dunne caught up with Chamberlin to discuss his latest tech venture, LiveOne. 

LiveOne's Crowdsurfing is a brand new way of experiencing video streaming which allows consumers to share the experience with other users simultaneously. 

 

"It's basically a digital version of an analogue audience," Chamberlin explained. 

 

"When you get five hundred people together to watch a rock concert that concert becomes legitimised in a way that is not legitimised if you are watching it on a laptop. It's the agreement and the communication that gives it credibility and allows economics to take place. That component was really missing from live stream". 

Chamberlin's venture is intended to create online communities around live digital events.
