The first ever international academic conference on Kraftwerk is taking place at Aston University in Birmingham in the UK later this month.
Titled ‘Industrielle Volksmusik for the Twenty-First Century: Kraftwerk and the Birth of Electronic Music in Germany’, the two-day Kraftwerk Konferenz will feature lectures and discussions about the electronic pioneers.
Organiser Uwe Schutte joined Tom on Thursday evening to discuss the conference, which he has organised. decided to host the conference as he’s currently working on a book about Kraftwerk. Former Kraftwerk band member Wolfgang Flür will attend the conference, reading from his memoirs and hosting a Q&A session.
