Viv Albertine was the guitarist in the influential female punk band The Slits and a key figure in the punk movement in the UK.
Her memoir Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys has just been published and she joined Tom in studio to talk about her friendship with Sid Vicious, her on-off relationship with Mick Jones of the Clash and described what it feels like to have a Clash song written about her.

Viv Albertine's Back to Mine Music choices
Brown Rice by Don Cherry
Viv said 'When the Slits started to tour we did this amazing tour with Don Cherry and met his daughter Neneh who was then just fourteen. She later became a friend of The Slits for life, and was even a member for a while. We just really loved the way he used chants and nursery rhyme melodies in his music and we took that and borrowed that from him.'
Train in Vain by The Clash
Viv says ' This song was written about me....It's one of the greatest pop songs in the world, I love Mick's singing voice, it's very soft and gentle.'
You Don't Own me by Lesley Gore
Viv says 'It's one of the first feminist records in a way, she was very young when she sang this. It's just a very defiant song.'
