Simon Goddard, the author of ‘Simply Thrilled - The Preposterous Story of Postcard Records’ spoke to Tom Dunne about this remarkable 1970s/80s label.
Dubbed ‘the sound of young Scotland’, the label was founded in a bedroom in 1979 by Alan Horne and Edywn Collins. They kept their paperwork in a sock drawer. This was, truly, music-making on a shoestring.
However, the label went on to make a significant contribution to the post punk music scene. Orange Juice, Josef K and Aztec Camera were just some of the bands which launched their careers through the prism of Postcard Records.
