On this evening’s show Tom talks to one of the founding members of iconic new wave band, The B52’s.  

Famous for her trademark red hair and stunning vocal partnership with Cindy Wilson, over the years she’s also worked with The Ramones, Iggy Pop, David Byrne, and REM.  

For her first solo album Guitars and Microphones, Kate’s teamed up with Australian songwriter Sia and Nick Valensi of The Strokes.

We'll also pay tribute to Michael Brown, songwriter and keyboardist for baroque pop band The Left Banke, who passed away last week.  Brown produced the band's classic hits “Walk Away Renee” and “Pretty Ballerina.” Music journalist Jim Bessman joins us from New York to explain why The Left Banke were such an influential but under appreciated band.
