Tom used the opportunity to try find out the secret to Tim's productivity and positivity.  Not only have the band just made what could be argued is their best album yet, he's also working on a second book, runs his own coffee shop and brand, and operates a record label.

Listen to the full interview here.

Ex Kraftwerk member, Wolfgang Flür

It's not every week you have the opportunity to talk to one of the giants of electronic music!

Tom talked to ex Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür in advance of his Drogheda Arts festival show.

Wolfgang talked about everything from his Kraftwerk days to the importance of a Kaiser Wilhelm helmet in his Musik Soldat shows.  He even taught Tom some essential German phrases.

You can listen below.

Wayne Kramer of MC5 and Jail Guitar Doors USA

Another fantastic guest courtesy of the Drogheda Arts festival; Wayne Kramer, guitarist with punk forefathers MC5.

Wayne lived through a phenomenal time in music and politics in the US.  Aged just 16, he formed MC5 with school friends. The band went on to become an influential early punk band, despite their relatively short recording career.

Unfortunately, substance addiction played a role in the demise of the band. Wayne himself ended up serving a prison sentence for a drugs offence, and it was an experience that changed his life's trajectory - thankfully for the better.

Listeners to the show may already be familiar with a fantastic initiative called Jail Guitar Doors.

Jail Guitar Doors is an independent initiative set up by Billy Bragg with the aim of providing musical equipment for the use of inmates serving time in prisons and funding individual projects such as recording sessions in prisons and for former inmates throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Wayne is one of the co founders of Jail Guitar Doors in the United States.  He talked about his work there and tells the story of how he inspired the name of the organisation.

Listen to the interview here.

Stay tuned next week, we'll have another bunch of great guests including Cathal Smyth formerly known as Chaz of Madness.
