Listen back to The Tom Dunne Show recorded live at the Barretstown Inspirations Fundraiser in New York.
1,700 people packed Webster Hall to see electrifying performances by Tommy Tiernan, Tim Wheeler (Ash), Mundy and The Frank and Walters. You'll be able to hear these performances too.
Tom MC-ed the event, but didn't neglect his presenter duties. He brought you exclusive backstage interviews with all the performers, including a memorable interview with Tommy Tiernan in a toilet!
Of the experience Tom says...
"It seemed that 85% of the audience were recent ex-pats, so seeing Mundy sing Galway Girl, Tommy Tiernan eulogise about the Irish abroad was always going to be a bit emotional. And if it wasn’t, a video interview with a Barretstown ex-camper talk about her experience brought the point home forcibly. That life is a wonderful gift, happiness can be down to chance and a night like this was to be savoured. And savoured it was!
"The atmosphere was electric from the off, the music was great, the craic was literally 90, and the opportunity to be with friends and enjoy yourself was relished. At the end, I stood on stage with one arm around Tim Wheeler and the around Mundy’s new bassist and thought about how this is a great moment I'll treasure forever.
"And on top of all that, we helped sick children. 27,000 children have passed through Barretstown’s doors in 20 years. The value of that break to them is priceless, and it was great to help ensure that work, and Paul Newman’s wonderful legacy, can continue."

Barretstown is a specially created camp for children with serious illnesses. It offers a therapeutic programme which helps bring a little joy to the lives of these kids who ordinarily may be suffering in some way.
The camp was established by the Hollywood actor Paul Newman in 1994. Barretstown relies on donations and fundraising efforts such as the recent concert in New York in order to provide a free service to the children.
The children catered for in Barretstown range in age from 7 to 17. It costs around €5 million per year to keep the camp afloat so donations are always welcome.
