Tonight on the Tom Dunne Show, John Moynes is back in studio to take a look at the work of yet another comedy great. The beginning of the the month marked 50 years since the passing of Flann O'Brien (a.k.a. Brian Ó Nuallain, a.k.a. Myles na gCopaleen) and so this week it's the turn of the legendary Irish novelist, playwright and satirist to take his place in the Comedy Hall of Fame.
Comparisons are often drawn between the surreal, crude and satirical comedy of his work and that of The Rubberbandits. We're delighted to say that Blindboy Boatclub will also be making an appearance on the show to pay tribute to Flann O'Brien and read a passage from one of his books.
We learned earlier today of yet another comedy great that has passed away. Writer, director, actor and comedian Victoria Wood is said to have died peacefully this morning after a short battle with cancer. Tonight, we'll also be paying tribute to her life throughout the show.
In the second hour of the programme, music journalist and author Mick Houghton will be joining Tom to talk about his latest book. ‘I've Always Kept a Unicorn: The Biography of Sandy Denny’ takes a look back on the life of the folk-rock legend, who not only had her own impressive solo career, but also performed as lead singer for Fairport Convention and The Strawbs.
