We have an absolutely packed Bank Holiday Special lined up for you on the Tom Dunne Show tonight, with a live session, authors, poets, and loads of great music to keep you entertained for the final hours of the long weekend.
First up, Travis will be in studio to perform songs off their latest album, 'Everything at Once', which was released on Friday. This is the eight album from the band, who have been together since 1990, and solidified their place in music history with songs such as 'Sing', 'Side' and 'Why Does it Always Rain on Me'.
Next up on the show, Tom looks back on an interview with Mancunian poet Mike Garry, in which they discussed the poem/song he wrote for Manchester music scene giant Tony Wilson. Also contributing to the conversation is Sean Boylan, the former Meath GAA manager, who was friends with Wilson for many years. Tony Wilson died from cancer eight years ago.
Authors Caroline & David Stafford will also be on the show to talk about their latest book - "The Life of Randy Newman". The biography compiles tasting notes, asides, diversions, and essays on the Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winning master pop satirist and film composer.
Tom will also be joined by renowned rock n' roll writer Mick Wall on his latest book, 'Lemmy: The Definitive Biography'. The bassist and front man for Motörhead passed away just over four months ago, and will be forever remembered as an absolute rock giant.
Finally, Tom will be joined by the Bard of Salford, legendary punk-poet Dr. John Cooper Clarke. The performance artist first rose to fame in the late 1970's, and released several albums with backing music from Manchester group 'The Invisible Girls'.
Clarke is visiting Ireland next week with shows in Belfast, Thurles and Dun Laoghaire Clarke on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, and more information is available on his website.
