Rusty Egan, former Visage band member and DJ, joined Tom Dunne on Monday night's show to look back on some of the wonderful stories he shared with the recently deceased New Romantic, Steve Strange.

In 1979 Egan and Strange took over a space in London and turned it into the legendary Blitz Club, frequented by musicians who would go on to become big in their own rights.

"It became a place for us all to go to. Before long everyone in the club was in a band," he explained.

Even Boy George started off in the Blitz Club - as the cloakroom attendant.

However, despite the many constructive times they had in their collaboration, there was a dark side to. Strange's struggle with drug addiciton made work too difficult at times.

"There was no stopping him. (If) he was gone, he was gone for three days," he said.

Strange, who passed away at the age of 55 last week, was a "larger than life character," according to Egan.
