The 2020/21 Carabao Cup final will be held in April rather than February to allow for more fans to attend the game.

The English FA made a surprise announcement today ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-finals tomorrow.

This year's final, which was scheduled to take place on February 28th, has been put back until April 25th.

The Football Association's reasoning behind the move is to have a greater chance of having fans in attendance.

"It is the objective of the League to stage the final with as many supporters in attendance as possible and the decision has therefore been taken to move the final from its original date of Sunday 28 February 2021 to later in the year," they said in an official statement.

"The number of fans permitted will be dependent on Government guidance in place at the time and it is hoped that moving the date to later in the year will give clubs and their fans the best opportunity to attend in person."

The news comes after tighter restrictions were introduced in certain parts of England to deal with rising Covid-19 case numbers.

Carabao Cup worry for Arteta

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been ruled out of tomorrow's quarter-final with Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta will likely be banking on England U-21 International Eddie Nketiah for firepower.

Last week the Gunners boss received public backing from the Arsenal board, despite a poor run of form.

Manchester City will be monitoring Gabriel Jesus closely after he missed the trip to Southampton at the weekend.

The kick-off at The Emirates is set for 8 O'Clock.

In the other quarter-final tomorrow, Newcastle visit Championship outfit Brentford.

That game kicks-off at 5:30pm. For all coverage of the games stay tuned to the OTB website.
