Gardaí have launched an investigation following the death of a baby at a house in Longford.

The baby died at a property in Abbeylara, Co. Longford yesterday morning and was taken to the mortuary at Crumlin Children's Hospital. 

The State Pathologist will conduct a post-mortem today.

The investigation into the death of the baby is ongoing.
