Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West have taken a new direction in naming their baby girl.

They're calling her North - so she'll be known as North West.

It's on the Los Angeles County birth certificate.

Kim gave birth to her first child Saturday 15 June - a month ahead of her due date.
She was born at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre.

There had been intense speculation over the child's name, with other rumoured options said to include Kaidence Donda, in honour of Kanye's late mother.

It's reported the couple will call the child "Nori" for short.
