A man has died and four people are injured after a crash involving a car and a tractor in Ballinaboula, County Wexford last night.

The man was travelling in a car with his two young girls when it happened on the N25 at around 7:10pm.

The children have been taken to University Hospital Waterford to be treated for serious Injuries.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other car and the tractor, one in his 70s and one in his 30s were also seriously injured.

The road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic investigation and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who were in the area between 6:40pm and 7:15pm and may have camera footage.
