Kenny Cunningham joined The Football Show to discuss Marcus Rashford and Darwin Nunez.

Marcus Rashford is not widely regarded for his finishing ability.

Even during his best years, Rashford was seen as a pacy winger who worked hard, created opportunities and had a rocket shot. But he was never a finesse or dangerous finisher. He still largely relies on his power to score, but in recent weeks he's shown much greater composure and control in front of goal.

It's led to him becoming Manchester United's primary goalscorer. Liverpool are hoping that Darwin Nunez becomes their primary goalscorer at some point in the future.

The young Uruguayan has been a very impressive player for Liverpool on the whole. He creates chaos in the opposition defence and his athleticism overwhelms most who try to mark him. But he is just an awful finisher. He creates a lot of chances to score so he has racked up goals, but he also spurns far too many chances by snatching at the ball.

Kenny Cunningham likes Nunez and hopes that Liverpool are doing all they can to help him become a better finisher.

"The quality of his finishing has to improve," Cunningham said.

"I'm not one of these to suggest it will come good [on its own]. He won't just wake up one morning and start scoring goals. I think that's a part of his game that he has to work on. It's interesting [with Marcus Rashford], Benni McCarthy coming in and the relationship between them."

Benni McCarthy famously won the Champions League with Porto and played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers. McCarthy wasn't one of the best players of his generation, but he was always a composed finisher who understood his position.

He was brought in alongside Erik ten Hag to coach Manchester United's forwards and specifically work on their ability to finish in front of goal.

"Individual work that's being done on the training pitch in particular, McCarthy and Rashford, the confidence he has gained from that has improved his game. Has improved the quality of his finishing in particular. That comes down to mindset as well.

"I wonder is anyone delegated at Liverpool with that responsibility."

Marcus Rashford and Erik ten Hag are a great partnership.
