This week on ‘Parenting’, one parent wrote in to say that their daughters refused to wear helmets while out cycling.
They have bikes but as they refuse to wear helmets, they have never been used in the two-years since they were bought.
The children claim none of their friends wear helmets and the parents fear they are missing out.
“It’s about priorities - being social or safe,” they wrote to Moncreiff.
“We would never ever forgive ourselves if an accident happens and they had no helmet on. Any advice would be appreciated.”
In response, Joanna gave her support to the worried parents.
“I think the last line here is the full and final answer on this,” she said.
“As parents, you would never forgive yourselves if an accident happened and they suffered a brain injury or a head injury that had any impact on their lives - or simply got hurt in any way.”
