The grunge band will play together for the first time in 20 years, but Mc Cartney will not attempt the likes of “Smells like Teen Spirit” or “Lithium”. They will perform a new song instead.
Grohl invited McCartney to come “jam with some mates” recently.
He said: “I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?' And somebody whispered to me: 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it."

They play tonight in New York for the 12.12.12 gig for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Kanye West will also appear.
