Reg Presley was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of 2012 and announced his retirement in a post on The Troggs' official website.

The Troggs were an English rock band from the 1960s that had a number of hits in Britain and the USA, including their most famous song, "Wild Thing".

The Troggs were from the town of Andover in southern England. The band were originally called The Troglodytes, which means "cave dweller".

Their most recongisable tunes are Wild Thing and Love is all Around Me which was covered by Marty Pellow and Wet Wet Wet. The song went global when it was put on the movie sountrack for Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The band influenced a number of bands since the 60's with claims by Iggy Pop, The Buzzcocks and The Ramones. The Jimi Hendrix Experience also famously covered "Wild Thing" during their appearance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.

The band officially split up in 1969, but they reunited various times after that for projects with collaborators like R.E.M.
