Spain's World Cup campaign has been thrown into chaos after the news that national manager Julen Lopetegui has been sacked a day before the World Cup is due to start.
The surprise news came after he agreed to take over at Real Madrid after the tournament.
Football writer Andy West joined Wednesday's OTB AM to discuss the chaos currently engulfing the Spanish camp saying: "It's crazy, isn't it? Just when we thought Argentina were having a bad build-up with injuries and had cancelled friendlies - Spain are trumping them.
"Two days before their first game and it's a very big first game as well against Portugal - they've lost their manager to Real Madrid at the end of the World Cup and now it looks like they might be responding by firing him because they're so furious that they didn't know anything about it and they feel they've been betrayed by the coach and this press conference...it looks like they will fire him - it's crazy.
"I think what this whole thing has shown...is that often the media doesn't know what's going on. The move yesterday took everyone by surprise - there were 20 names linked with the Real Madrid job since Zinedine Zidane left, which again took everyone by surprise, and none of them were Lopetegui so the fact that he got the job was a huge surprise to the media and everyone is really guessing what's going to happen.
"The Spanish FA, it seems they didn't know about the approach with Real Madrid - he only signed a new contract in May, last month, so they weren't expecting him to leave - he'd just signed a new deal and I think they were completely taken aback," he added.
