Regardless of whether Mayo do get a hold of Sam Maguire or not, when this current generation of footballers passes the baton on, there will be plenty of respect for their achievements.
The likes of Aidan O'Shea, Lee Keegan, Cillian O'Connor and many others have made their mark, reaching multiple All Ireland finals, getting close to ending the infamous drought.
It's been an impressive generation and with that in mind, a Facebook observer had a question for ex-Mayo midfielder David Brady during our Panel at the Aviva Stadium in association with Benetti Menswear.
The question from Adrian Hall read as thus: "Ask David Brady, if there were three former Mayo players in their prime that could start on Sunday, who would they be and why?"
Brady pondered that question and his response was "obviously the first one is Ciaran McDonald on the list".
How 'The Mark' could impact Dublin vs Mayo and Aidan O'Shea's role
But that's where the list seems to end as Brady went on to explain.
"With this Mayo team, I wouldn't be taking many out and that's the God's honest truth," he said, pointing out the example of Jason Doherty as a player performing outstandingly at present.
Less than 24 hours to go throw in, so what's your #DUBvMAYO prediction? #OTB #GAA

"I'm in awe of this Mayo team and I don't think there's many of the past players that would be able to compete with them now."
And if you had to pick three past players from both Mayo and Dublin who you'd add to the current starting XI, let us know your thoughts on Twitter (@offtheball) and on our Facebook page.
