Speaking about her upcoming one-off documentary, Fertility Shock, journalist Dearbhail McDonald joins Ciara Kelly on Lunchtime Live explains why Ireland is running out of babies.
As fertility rates around the country continue to drop, Dearbhail McDonald looks at how Ireland plans to deal with an ever-ageing population. Speaking on Lunchtime Live, McDonald stated that "we've had such profound social change in the last couple of years that there might be a fear at a political and corporate level of doing anything that might be seen to be promoting what might be perceived as pro-natalist policies."
We're perfectly poised to have a proper debate and I hope that that's what the documentary will do, start a conversation.
