Armagh footballer discusses life and ambitions on and off the pitch

There's a welcome face back for Armagh this year in the shape of Jamie Clarke.

The talented forward has been unavailable at times over the last few years. But he has committed to Kieran McGeeney's cause for 2019.

He joined Joe Molloy to discuss his career and ambitions on and off the pitch.

He touched on his time in New York in both 2016 and 2018 as he tried to iron out off-field plans.

Those plans revolved around establishing himself in the fashion stakes.

"I was at an internship level," he said.

"Through my 20s, I've failed at a lot of things"

"But again, it was ultimately trying to figure out what I wanted to do [within fashion]. Whether it be styling and I was looking at Masters in Fashion Buying. Ultimately, I came to the decision where I want to do my own thing."

Currently he is based out of Dundalk as he begins to create his own brand.

"Don't get me wrong, through my 20s I've failed at a lot of things," he admitted.

"But maybe that has led me to where I am now. I think it's going in the right direction for me anyway. I don't have that, maybe, doubt or worry about that sort of thing because I think I'm doing the right thing."

He also discussed what life is like back with Armagh and his thoughts on the game's evolution.

One thing he feels is that McGeeney is building with long-term in mind.

"What people don't realise is that Kieran's thinking of longevity. He's trying to set things in place. Not just going in to win one year and then the whole thing falls apart. He's trying to get a consistent level throughout, even at board level."
