John Aldridge was back in Ireland on Tuesday as his former club Liverpool opened pop-up stores in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre and Blanchardstown.

It goes without saying that Liverpool are riding the crest of a wave right now. European champions and clear at the top of the Premier League, it's good times for those of a Red hue.

Jonathan Higgins popped down for a quick chat with Aldridge for Team 33.

And the Liverpool legend loves where the club are finding themselves at.

"Liverpool have got a drawing power now which we probably haven't had for a while," he said.

Big Pull

"We've won the Champions League and probably got the best coach/manager in world football. It's a big pull for the better players. Match their wages and a lot of people would want to come and play for Jurgen.

"And I would've loved to have played for him obviously."

He also drew comparisons between his own favourite career manager Jack Charlton and Jurgen Klopp's style in one aspect.

"We did the Jurgen press with Ireland. People didn't realise," he said.

"We did the Jurgen press up top and midfield and made it difficult for the opposition. That's one of the reasons we got where we got under Jack."

Also on this week's podcast, I was joined by Jonathan and Stephen Bradley to discuss other talking points from the week.

The main one was Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka and the controversy around his reaction to the boos from Gunners supporters.

But we also got nostalgic. Thanks to Alex Nyarko's experience when an Everton fan confronted him on the pitch against - coincidentally Arsenal - we had a look at the club's that populated that 2000-01 Premier League fixture list and the ones we'd like to see back in the English top-flight for our own entertainment.
