John Giles doesn't believe Manchester United should make any special effort to persuade Paul Pogba to stay.
The France midfielder has openly hinted that he would be open to a new challenge.
But given the inconsistency of his club performances, should Man United cash in and let him go?
Leeds and Ireland legend John is of the opinion that a parting of ways would be for the best, especially if the player also wants out.
"I would have him out of the door tomorrow," said John.
Incredible
"There's talk about Real Madrid being interested and they could be interested at €140m, €130m, €150m."
A fee of that magnitude would also see Man United recoup more than what they paid for Pogba.
"The fact that we're talking about an increase for Man United is incredible," John continued.
"What he's saying is, 'I've done three years , it's time to move and time to get on with my career.'
"But he's been there for three years and everybody's saying on his day he can do this and he can do that. The fact is he's been there for three years and he hasn't had a good season.
"My take on Pogba is he's a modern player. He's a social media star and he's very, very conscious of that. I think he'd rather be a star on social media than a star on the pitch.
"He's a very talented guy but has he done it for Manchester United? No way has he done it for Manchester United and I don't think he's capable of doing it in a way that they would expect him to do it."
John is also puzzled by Man United's apparent desire to keep the midfielder.
"And what I can't understand is Manchester United apparently seem to be bending over backwards to keep him," he said.
John added that if Man United keep him, they will have "more problems" than they already have.
