Details have emerged of an expletive-laden rant by Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane toward Harry Arter which is said to have contributed to the midfielder's absence from the international side.
The Sun report that Keane called Arter a "p***k" and a "w****r" before suggesting he wouldn't include him in the team if he was in charge.
The report claims that Arter had been advised by FAI medical staff to sit out training in June, something which Keane took exception to.
The Cardiff City player is said not to have responded to Keane's insults and that Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill was not present in the room while the incident took place.
O'Neill has been trying to contain the fallout of the bust-up between the pair and had to face questions about the revelations prior to their humiliating defeat to Wales last Thursday.
With a squad already depleted by injury, O'Neill watched his side produce possibly their worst performance of his reign as manager in Cardiff.
There has been criticism of the management team off the back of the result, claiming that a squad already hit by injury would also be missing key players because of disagreements with those in charge.
Focus now switches to Ireland's friendly with Poland on Tuesday night before the next round of games in the UEFA Nations League kicking off in October.
O'Neill will undoubtedly face more questions on the incident prior to the game at the Stadion Wroclaw tomorrow night.
