Former NY Giants player Osi Umenyiora joined The NFL Show to discuss his career, the new season and his reaction to the Colin Kaepernick situation.
Now a BBC pundit, Osi was clear that he enjoys being back relatively unknown in his native London, playing 5-a-side in Brixton and getting skinned by nippy wingers! But on his real sporting love, Osi was clear on why he took a stand on Colin Kaepernick taking a knee.
Our interview took place before Kaepernick was announced as a new Nike ambassador, much to the delight and anger of the American public. On his initial reaction to the furore last year, Osi was engaging:
"It was interesting. The producers just wanted us to express ourselves.
"Given the fact that I really love America so much - the opportunity that that country gave me is something I will never forget. I want that country to be as successful as it has been, so everything just came out of me and Jason [Bell - his co-pundit on BBC's NFL programme], so I am glad it came over well."
