In an interview at the weekend, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she has no regrets about her Open Door Policy.

The German newspaper ‘Die Welt’ uncovered cases of recognised asylum seekers who had travelled to countries such as Syria and Afghanistan for a short time.

George Hook has claimed that the Open Door Policy was "an astonishing piece of misjudgment by an experience politician."

He went on to say that for the first time since the 1930's, the right wing would deliver a substantial vote in Germany's election next year.
