The Finance Minister has refused to 'dab' in the Dáil.

It happened as a school group sitting in the chamber gallery were waving and 'dabbing' down at TDs during a tour earlier.

Paschal Donohoe, who was answering questions from deputies when the group caught his attention, took the time to address the students.

He explained: "While we can't wave back, I hope you're having a good visit."

Responding to another deputy's suggestion, the Finance Minister clarified: "Neither wave nor dab back."

Turning back to the school group, he added: "We hope you have a good visit, and one of you are down here at some point in the future."

It is not the first mention of dabbing in the Dáil - AAA-PBP TD Richard Boyd Barrett briefly demonstrated the popular gesture in the chamber last year.

Dabbing refers to the simple gesture where someone raises their arms while 'hiding' their face in the crook of one arm.
